A Love Note To Small Businesses

21 Nov

Thank you to all of you who read and shared my last post, 25 Signs You Grew Up In A Small Town. I am truly astonished by the response it has gotten and I hope you will find future posts equally as compelling. It is obvious that so many of you have a special place in your heart for small towns like I do and I have plenty of small town topics planned for future posts. But today’s post shares my love of small businesses, which are truly the backbone of each of our towns. Enjoy!

A Love Letter To Small Businesses via The Small Stuff Counts Blog

Dear small business owner,

I have a confession to make: I admire you.

I admire your passion for what you do. That passion fuels everything around you.

I admire your dedication and perseverance. Owning a business is a labor of love.

I admire your loyalty. You are a loyal customer to other small businesses, especially those that are in your own community.

I admire your ability to make a difference. You create jobs so others can also make a living.

I admire your camaraderie. You share advice with other small business owners all the time, and you are always eager to help a fellow small business in need.

I admire your courage. You are the underdog in a land of much larger companies, but you continue to focus on improving your business instead of worrying about your much larger competitors.

I admire your commitment to community. Even with all the hours and energy you put into your business, you still manage to be the one that chairs every committee in town, donates to all the nonprofits, and coaches all the little league teams.

I admire your selflessness. No matter what holiday it is or what time of day it is, you are there to serve your customers. You always go above and beyond.

I work with brilliant small business owners like you every day through my job at the chamber of commerce, and I never cease to be amazed. I am envious of your entrepreneurial spirit, and I am determined to be able to call myself a small business owner someday. You have something so very special.

I realize that what you do is not easy, but it is bigger than yourself. Thank you for all you do to make your community a vibrant place. A life of only shopping at large chains and department stores would be very dull. I cannot imagine my life without you.

Your Admirer
